Classic Accessories patio cover and cushion brand was growing rapidly in 2019 with nearly $100 million dollars in revenue for the year. As a result the CEO who had seeded much of the success a decade prior was looking to pivot the patio accessories brand into a patio lifestyle company through the addition of patio furniture, fire pits, lighting and decor. Following that decision in June of 2019, I was given the opportunity to lead design for all hard goods development for the CA brand.
OBJECTIVE
Develop a branded fire pit set designed to compliment the contemporary American home.
The linear 'grid' aesthetic reflects many of the most common architectural features such as, grid window panes, patio pavers, fencing and more. Mirroring this common geometry is intended to infer a rugged and timeless appearance grounded by the outdoor spaces of which it inhabits.

The ‘Grid Fire Set’ consists of three quintessential patio and garden accessories intended to warm and illuminate.
The contemporary but also rustic aesthetic of the grid frame is accented by eye-catching powder coated design elements and branded tools offering unique functionality & versatility.

The Gird Fireset offers customers a personalized appearance with three aesthetically appealing powder coated finishes.

BRANDED ACCESSORY
The fire pit includes a branded hand tool used to remove the spark cover when hot.
GRILL ATTACHMENT
2-PIECE SPARK COVER
The top cover offers full protection from escaping embers while allowing for effortless removal for stoking and reloading.
The bottom cylinder is designed to help contain hot embers from escaping outside of the fire pit bowl.
LANTERNS
CANDLE CRADLE
Each lantern comes with one removable ‘Candle Cradle’ which can be lifted in and out of the lanterns to easily light or activate flameless candles.
BRANDED ACCESSORY
Each lantern comes with one branded hook used for hanging the Candle Cradle included in each lantern.
HANGING MOBILE
Candle Cradles can be hung on the Grid Hanging Mobile to bring ambiance below eaves and pergolas.

BATTERY LANTERN

The first sample utilized rechargeable battery-operated LED light, paired with a frosted acrylic light cover (see left).
The integrated LED was specified in anticipation of increasing consumer interest in portable exterior lighting as it provides more functional light than the average flameless candle while functioning as effectively as hardwired landscape lighting.
BISTRO LIGHTS

These unique bistro light prototypes were sampled two ways; with grid enclosure and without. With difficulties meeting our target cost and concerns around reliability this component of the Grid Fire Set was shelved.
