Described by friends & family as artistic, empathetic and passionate, and by clients & coworkers as persuasive, versatile and capable - I am an idealistic self-starter who thrives most when creating beauty and value.
As the son of a home builder and a graphic designer, blueprints and branding were prominent fixtures in my adolescence. That marriage between practical engineering & visual art birthed my passion for design; it impressed upon me a profound respect for the power of a pencil as I watched those blueprints become outlines of our new home. Much of my youth was spent emulating their talents while observing their process and the synergy between the artist and the engineer. This early exposure to design and creative problem solving has propelled me academically, professionally, and personally.
I began my career as the sole Industrial Designer for ‘Classic Accessories’ (CA), a $100 million dollar grossing outdoor accessories company in Kent, WA. During my employment I both executed design and managed licensing relationships for all hardgoods development, including private label partners John Deere and Husqvarna. My persuasive design language, innovative concepts and instinct for consumer trends within the home furnishing market granted me the opportunity to lead design for CA’s expansion into outdoor lifestyle products.
Following my employment at Classic Accessories, I was given the opportunity to lead the redesign of an innovative kitchen appliance accessory called the 'Toekickswitch' for a Seattle based startup: Tesign Kitchen Solutions. It was there I designed the second generation model, the 'TKII' - following UL approval, the launch to market of the TKII will signify the most rewarding achievement of my career thus far.
